Am I a LASIK Candidate?
The ideal candidate for LASIK:
- is at least eighteen years old, although some eyes are still developing and maturing at this age.
- has not had a change in their glasses prescription for a year (has a stable refractive error)
- is within the correctable range
- is free of eye disease
- is willing to accept the potential risks, complications and side effects of LASIK
LASIK is more dependent on surgical skill than PRK. Take this into account when selecting a surgeon. Patients who have previously had Radial Keratotomy (RK) are often candidates for LASIK surgery.
Certain medical conditions such as diabetes, keratoconous, and lupus may affect candidacy. You should discuss these conditions as well as pregnancy and any medications you are taking with Dr. Goosey during your LASIK evaluation.
Not sure if you are a LASIK Candidate? Schedule a free LASIK consultation and let Dr. Goosey examine your eyes and determine your candidacy.
